Millennia-Old Tradition

PureGoods was founded with the mission to introduce its customers and friends to the ancient history of the mystical Athos peninsula in Northern Greece. Mount Athos is an autonomous monastic community and the home of 20 monasteries, 12 sketes, and hundreds of cells, all over 1,000 years old. This piece of paradise has not only survived but has preserved its unique character through all of fate's adversities. A place of pure and untouched nature, a place of pristine beauty, Athos is a source of vital power not only because of its spirituality. True to their centuries-old traditions, in the gardens, apiaries, and vineyards of the monasteries, the monks gather ingredients for the pure and natural products they produce following "family" recipes, carefully preserved and developed by generations of master monks.

Millennia-Old Customs

Their "family" recipe is at least a thousand years old, preserved and passed down from generation to generation, not to the firstborn son, but to the most capable monk. Access to the cultural landmark, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is forbidden for women. Visitors can only be male pilgrims, expressly approved by a special service for admission to the peninsula.

Crafted By Nature

Production

Our products are handmade by the monks on Mount Athos, using 100% natural, pure wild-growing ingredients from the local area. Their creation process involves no surrogate materials, fertilizers, pesticides, or chemicals. They produce small batches and limited quantities.

History and Quality

Their recipe has been used for more than 10 centuries, with the products originally intended for Byzantine emperors and their inner circles. These products are officially certified by the competent authorities of the European Union. Every product label includes a registration number, confirming their qualities, origin, and the exact quantities of the pure and natural ingredients.

Location

Authentic products are made on Mount Athos—one of the last places in this part of the world free of industry and environmental pollution. According to the Greek constitution, Mount Athos, known as the Holy Mountain, is an independent administrative and political entity. It encompasses 20 monasteries, all with the right to self-governance. This right is exercised by the "Holy Community," which governs the region's autonomy.

This is my first time ordering honey from Pyrene, and I’m absolutely delighted. The taste is unique. I combine it with nuts and fruits and enjoy it several times a week.

I ordered the white wine Asyrtiko-Athiri. Its aroma was delightful. You can truly sense the citrus notes that instantly transported me to the shores of the Aegean Sea. I paired it with seafood and was very pleased.

As an olive lover, I decided to try a few types: dry, black, and green. Their taste was truly great. I combined them in a salad and was very satisfied! I recommend them!

As a huge wine enthusiast, I didn’t miss the chance to order the Grenache Rouge Syrah 2022! All I can say is: Bravo! A unique aroma and flavor of all kinds of fruits. I love wines like this. Highly recommended!

I ordered pine and chestnut honey from PureGoods and I’m very happy with my choice! Both have a unique taste in their own way and pair wonderfully with all kinds of foods. I’ll be trying their other honeys soon.
